Minor in American Sign Language

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers undergraduate students the opportunity to earn minor in American Sign Language by taking:

  • ASL 2140C: Basic ASL
  • ASL 2150C: Intermediate ASL
  • ASL 4161C: Advanced ASL
  • ASL 3514: American Deaf Culture; and
  • One of the following:
    • ASL 4201C: American Sign Language IV
    • ASL 4301C: Structure of Sign Language

Students transferring credit hours toward a minor in ASL must complete 12 ASL credit hours within the CSD Department at USF.

A total of 19 credit hours and a GPA of 2.0 or better must be achieved in minor coursework in order for a student to be certified for graduation with a minor in American Sign Language.

Students completing required courses may declare the minor when completing the application for graduation during the final semester of study.
