CPR-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Basic Life support for Adults and Children

This course is required for all new graduate students in CSD before they are allowed to work in clinic. Attendees will have hands-on practice in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and obtain CPR and Basic Life Support Certification. This course is being offered for .4 ASHA CEUs at Erwin Technical Center on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.

HIV and Blood Borne Pathogens

Attendees will learn the latest research and statistics re: HIV and review universal precautions in treating patients with bloodborne diseases. They will also review risk management issues. This 4-hour course is mandatory for new graduate students in CSD before they are able to work in the clinic. This course is offered for .4 ASHA CEUs at Erwin Technical Center on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.

HIV and CPR Course

Both of these courses are required to begin working in the USF-Speech Language Hearing Clinic. At the end of the CPR course, you will revieve your CPR certification card. Each course is being offered for .4 ASHA CEUs (total of .8 ASHA CEUs)at Erwin Technical Center on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.

Supervision in the Suncoast: USF SLP Consortium

This is a course for SLPs who are supervising students in the USF Consortium SLP Master's Program. Participants in the course will learn to: 1. describe the tasks of supervision relative to ASHA's guidelines 2. improve the process of clinical observation and documentation 3. complete documentation procedures using the USF-CSD evaluation and feedback forms and 4. critique clinical performance in a manner thaat provides strong quantitative as well as subjective criteria. This course is worth .6 ASHA CEUs.

Doctoral Seminar Series

This seminar series explores research issues in the areas of speech, hearing, child language, and adult language. Presentations are given by members of the department and also by distinguished researchers from other academic, medical, and corporate institutions. As indicated in the table below, many presentations are offered for ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level; Professional area). In these cases, CEUs are free to USF faculty and students. There will be a $10.00 fee for others seeking CEUs.

Unless otherwise noted in the table below, presentations take place on Fridays from 2:15-3:15pm in PCD 4004. Although the presentations are open to the public, the series is arranged as a component of a course for doctoral students which begins at 1:00pm. Attendees who are not enrolled in the class are asked to wait outside the classroom if they arrive more than 10 minutes before the start of the presentation (i.e. prior to 2:05 pm for presentations that begin at 2:15pm).
